We cannot get a do-over for last 6 months, but we can take action and move froward in a positive actionable way. COVID-19 has impacted everyone in big, and small ways but how will you choose to move forward? These last six months sure have been a whirlwind but lets turn that whirlwind around. Today is a great day to set new goals, for the next six months. Grab a pen check out the questions below taken from a 2013 blog post on https://www.workitdaily.com/
“Top 3 Work-Related Goals. What are my top three work-related goals for the remainder of the year? Why are those goals important to me? What habits and processes do I need to adopt to support those goals?
Top 3 Personal Goals. What are my top three personal goals for the remainder of the year? Why are those goals important to me? Who can I share those goals with to help hold me accountable to achieving them?
Relationship Development. Which relationships will I focus on strengthening and developing during the second half of the year? Who do I want to meet and get to know? Who can most help me achieve my work-related and personal goals?
Learning and Knowledge. What areas of learning do I most need to focus on? What new skills do I need to develop? What skills do I need to strengthen? What things do I need to “keep current” on? What one skill, if mastered, would have the greatest impact on the achievement of my goals?
Habits. What time management habits do I need to develop and strengthen? What three habits, if developed and sustained, would have the greatest positive impact on my work life and personal life? What habits do I know I need to drop or replace?“
Whether or not you start on July 1st, the halfway point in the year or wait until later this week or month to set new goals, it’s important to set them.
I’ve always been a habitual goal setter, but what I fail at, is checking on those goals I have set to make sure I’m on target. The above article suggests to check them each week, I plan to schedule that for Friday afternoons for the rest of the year when my productivity is falling short as I anticipate the weekend ahead.
I never check everything off my goal list, but reading them keeps me accountable to move steadily toward them.
Never underestimate the power of a new pen, planner and notebook to keep you on track.
Some of my favorite productivity things:
When I discovered how much I loved these pens, I took one to three different store to match it exactly with the large wall of pen choices. They write like a dream, beautiful vibrant colors glide across your paper, so smooth and bold with little to no smearing, and the squishy comfort grip helps to make writing more comfortable. Choose either ballpoint or gel shown above. I love them both but usually only carry ballpoint with me in my purse because gel tends to leak. Just make sure to get a medium point if you like a bold and smooth look and feel to write out your dreams, goals and desires,
Need a new planner?
I’ve got you covered there too! This is my favorite tried and true planner that really gets the job done. It may not be as pretty as other planners like the Happy Planner (which I own but are just not functional for me.) What I love about this one, is the 6×8 size, it’s big enough to write a lot in it and still fit in a larger mom purse or laptop bag. The hardcover design keeps it looking fresh for the entire year. But it’s the layout that sold me, at the top of each day three is a top three list to fill in which really keeps me on track, It also lists hours for each day so I can block out my time between writing, fitness, appointments, business work and much more. You can purchase the new academic year planner right now at a cheaper price from your local Walmart, Target or office supply stores.
