If you have not introduced an Elf on Shelf into your house, DON’T DO IT!
You may think it will be fun, but let’s think this through, mamas.
Who’s going to move this Elf and be responsible for all the Pinterest worthy things that take a good amount of time, planning, and money to put together?
Not to mention the fact that kids NEVER stay in bed, so you will have stay up late making sure the kids don’t see you placing this darn elf somewhere spoiling the magic.
There have been many nights that my children woke up disappointed. I feel asleep, I forgot, or I was too exhausted to move that dreaded elf.
I feel this Elf has brought more disappointment than fun to our house over the last decade.
Hear me now mamas,
This Elf on a Shelf is a childhood commitment, the Elf comes back EVERY year.
I have been doing this for over a decade, and sadly each year it gets a little worse.
My children remember the first few years our Elf, Peppermint, was with us. I was so full of amazing ideas but now I’m just tired!
All but one of my children are old enough to know that our elf and Santa are not magic. My 6 year old on the other hand, still believes so I am planning early this year to make some magical memories. Fingers crossed.
If you have made it this far and still want an Elf on a shelf, don’t say I didn’t warn you.
I am excited about all the gender and skin tone choices available now. We have been calling our boy Elf on a shelf a girl back when there were you could only ever buy one gender, a boy!
Which one will you choose? Boy? or Girl?
So, you bought the Elf on a Shelf anyway. Let me help you with some props and ideas.
Check out the link below, this mama has loads of inexpensive elf ideas from the Dollar Tree. I will be using quite a few.
Lets not forget all the things you can purchase if you are not feeling crafty.
